Evaluation of a commercial aerosol lidar scanner for industrial pollution monitoring

In recent years, light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology has gained popularity in various applications, including remote sensing of Particulate Matter (PM) absolute concentrations. Raymetrics PMeye is a unique platform consisting state-of-the-art scanning lidar, innovative algorithms auxiliary sensors, used for large areas PM concentrations monitoring. Using novel inversion scheme transforming raw signals to aerosol concentrations, one its kind monitor urban or/and industrial areas. Measurements performed at steel factory Latin America, highly variable area terms emission sources, support the effectiveness overall system. evaluation against scattering situ counter, placed major sources on ranges directions from present high correlation very low mean relative differences.
